Earlier this year marked a significant milestone in the recognition of SERIS’s expertise in the field of port security. Not only have we been providing guest lecturers toSTC Rotterdam,Nova Collegein IJmuiden, andPortilogin Antwerp for many years, but we also speak at various forums on port security and the relevant laws and regulations.Building on this, we supported our Belgian colleagues through a pleasant and mutually educational collaboration with knowledge and practical advice, which culminated in the recognition of SERIS Security in Belgium as a Recognized Security Organization (RSO).

The accreditation process took nearly six months and concluded with an audit of the entire system of knowledge and implementation. It encompassed teaching materials, the demonstrable knowledge and experience of instructors and consultants, and the use of a well-established methodology for conducting risk assessments of port facilities and even entire ports. The accreditation of SERIS as an RSO is the crowning achievement of this process and serves as proof of our knowledge and expertise in the field of ISPS and security in general.

But that’s not all. The scope of each accreditation is described in the accreditation itself and can therefore be specific. In our case, SERIS Security is accredited for:

  •  Conducting Port Facility Security Audits (PFSA)
  •  The preparation of Port Facility Security Plans (PFSPs)
  •  Conducting Port Security Assessments (PSAs)
  •  Developing Port Security Plans (PSPs)

In addition, SERIS Academy is accredited to deliver the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) training program. These accreditations are valid for a period of five years. This once again demonstrates the value that cross-border collaboration and knowledge-sharing can bring to an entire organization. As far as we’re concerned, this is a classic case of one plus one equals three—a result that ultimately benefits our clients!
